MIGRANT HEALTH CARE

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY'S AGRICULTURAL AND MIGRANT WORKFORCE

Great Lakes Bay Health Centers was originally founded to provide care to migrant health workers in 1969. We continue to serve migrant and seasonal agricultural workers throughout mid- and lower Michigan.

Our mobile medical and dental units travel to more than 40 farms to provide care seasonally. In addition, year-round agricultural workers may be seen at any of our sites.

In 1969 migrant services was the initiation of what is now Great Lakes Bay Health Centers. Today our passion extends serving migrant agriculture workers in 20 counties throughout Michigan. Our medical unit is equipped to provide preventative care health services including but not limited to rapid diabetic and cholesterol screenings, complete physical examinations and laboratory services on site. Our providers have the ability to refer to nearby hospitals if necessary when treated at our medical unit.

Migrant services staff are bilingual in the Spanish and English language, communicating with patients in the tongue they understand and feel comfortable speaking. With over 26 sites to refer for follow-up in Michigan, GLBHC is dedicated to follow-up with care management for our agriculture workers.

GLBHC migrant services is pleased to be part of the National Center for Farmworker Health mission and striving to reach the goal of treating not less than 2 million migrant agricultural workers by the year 2020.
